What Happens During a Root Canal?

Once you receive local anesthesia and sedation dentistry (if needed), your tooth will be isolated so that saliva and other fluids cannot interfere with the procedure. A small opening will be created in the crown of your tooth, and our team will begin to clear out any infected tissues as well as remove the pulp. After sanitizing the canals and inner chambers of your tooth, we will fill it with a biocompatible substance commonly referred to as gutta-percha. This will create a tight seal to prevent reinfection. Then, a customized dental crown will be crafted and placed over the vulnerable tooth just a few weeks after your procedure.
